Purpose of this change

This proposal is for an Applicability and Policy Alignment Check.

Runway 10/28, a licensed runway, currently does not have a runway protection zone. Our alternative runways (16/34 and 04/22) do have an RPZ.

Runway 10/28 opened Spring 2023. There is risk of drone pilots flying too close to the upwind of Runway 10/28, risking a mid air collision.

Stage 1 : Applicability and Policy Alignment

This step has been started

On receipt of a DAP 1916 Statement of Need, an Applicability and Policy Alignment Check (APAC) is undertaken by the CAA to ascertain whether the change falls in scope of the Airspace Change Process (CAP1616). The APAC must be conducted before the request can be promulgated in the UK Aeronautical Information Publication (UK AIP). If the APAC concludes that change does fall in scope of the Airspace Change Process, the sponsor will be advised the next steps accordingly. If the APAC concludes that the change does not fall in scope of the Airspace Change Process, the sponsor will be permitted to submit the change directly to the UK AIP Change Request Portal.
