Purpose of this change

This proposal is for an Applicability and Policy Alignment Check.

The objective of this change is to ensure the Transponder Mandatory Zones (TMZs) which are currently notified in the remarks column of the UK AIP ENR 2.1, are also published as their own standalone airspace volumes in the UK AIP ENR

2.2 Section 4. This change is Phase 1 of a multi-phased requirement to harmonise the publication of TMZs and RMZs in the UK AIP. There are no changes to existing TMZs and there are no new TMZs being introduced. This is an administrative change to ensure clear presentation.

Stage 1 : Applicability and Policy Alignment

This step has been started

On receipt of a DAP 1916 Statement of Need, an Applicability and Policy Alignment Check (APAC) is undertaken by the CAA to ascertain whether the change falls in scope of the Airspace Change Process (CAP1616). The APAC must be conducted before the request can be promulgated in the UK Aeronautical Information Publication (UK AIP). If the APAC concludes that change does fall in scope of the Airspace Change Process, the sponsor will be advised the next steps accordingly. If the APAC concludes that the change does not fall in scope of the Airspace Change Process, the sponsor will be permitted to submit the change directly to the UK AIP Change Request Portal.

CAA response to Stage 1

The CAA has reviewed the Statement of Need and has agreed that the issues identified are appropriate for consideration under the APAC process.

29 Aug 25: The CAA approves the implementation of this airspace change proposal. Implementation is scheduled for AIRAC 12/25, which is effective on 27 Nov 25.
