Purpose of this change

This proposal is for an Airspace Trial, for which a scaled airspace change process applies and a change level is not applicable.

Seeking to establish either a known traffic environment or recognised air environment in the vicinity of RAF Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath to mitigate the safety risk presented by the high volume of unknown GA traffic that operates in the area.

The requirements for Stage 2 will depend on the nature of the change proposal. The size, complexity and duration of the proposal will be taken into consideration when scaling the requirements of this stage. The change sponsor must develop at least one design option and conduct impact assessments for the airspace change proposal. There is no requirement for the change sponsor to conduct the full options development process, design principal evaluation or initial options appraisal.
