Purpose of this change

This proposal is for an Airspace Trial, for which a scaled airspace change process applies and a change level is not applicable.

The change sponsor, NATS Services Ltd (NSL), is developing an end-to-end scalable solution for the safe integration of uncrewed and crewed operations in the recognized traffic environment established through this temporary airspace change.

Stage 1 : Define

This step has been started

During Stage 1 of the temporary and trial airspace change process, the change sponsor submits a Statement of Need setting out the objectives of their change proposal and the issues or opportunities it seeks to address. The change sponsor will need to identify the need for a temporary or trial change proposal, so that all stakeholders can understand their rationale for pursuing an airspace change.

CAA response to Stage 1

27/02/24 - Following the publication of the revised CAP 1616 airspace change process, the UK Civil Aviation Authority has published the revised requirements and guidance for temporary and trial airspace change proposals, CAP 1616g. This ACP will follow the process requirements as set out in CAP 1616 Version 5.
