10/09/24 We have decided to withdraw the existing planning application for our proposed hub facility. As a result, we have paused ACP-2023-015 until an alternative location is identified

27/02/24 - Following the publication of the revised CAP 1616 airspace change process, the UK Civil Aviation Authority has published the revised requirements and guidance for temporary and trial airspace change proposals, CAP 1616g. This ACP will continue to follow the process requirements as set out in CAP 1616 Version 4.

Purpose of this change

This proposal is for an Airspace Trial, for which a scaled airspace change process applies and a change level is not applicable.

The change sponsor, Apian, in conjunction with the Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking to conduct the second stage of feasibility trials using Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), for the distribution of medical payloads

including but not limited to chemotherapy drugs, patient samples, blood packs and other urgent medical supplies.

This step has been started

During the CAA Assessment and Decision Step, the CAA reviews and assesses the airspace change proposal. The CAA may request minor changes to the proposal. The CAA prepares assessment papers to inform and provide guidance to the airspace change decision-maker. The CAA then decides whether to approve or reject the airspace change proposal.
