Airspace change ID: ACP-2019-03
This proposal is for a Permanent airspace change, and is level TBC.
As a direct result of Covid’19 and the demise of Flybe, AGS has taken the decision to pause the group-wide airspace change programme: our business simply cannot afford to progress such an expensive and risky CAP1616 airspace change programme at this time.
This step has been started
During the Develop & Assess Step, the change sponsor develops one or more options that address the Statement of Need and align with the defined design principles.
The Department for Transport have notified aviation stakeholders that the controlled airspace in southern England used to support commercial air transport operations is capacity constrained. Passenger delays are expected to increase sharply over the next ten years if the airspace structure and route network are not upgraded to introduce additional capacity. The Future Airspace Strategy Implementation South (FASI South) programme has been established by NATS and fifteen key airports operating in southern England, including Southampton Airport Ltd. to coordinate a series of linked ACPs that will modernise the overall airspace structure and route network.
This is the area which may be affected by this airspace change depending on its development. This area may change as the proposal is developed.
