Purpose of this change

This proposal is for a Permanent change to the notified airspace design, and the change level is 1. The detailed process requirements are published in Part 1 of CAP 1616.

This airspace change intends to modernise airspace around Glasgow Airport in order to:

- Meet the regulatory requirements for Performance Based Navigation (PBN) implementation

- Decouple existing procedures from ground based navigational aids

- Meet the intent of the UK's Airspace Modernisation Strategy

- Consider environmental and operational and benefits

This step has been started

During the Consultation Preparation Step, the sponsor plans its stakeholder consultation and engagement, and prepares consultation documents, including the second-phase Full options appraisal with more rigorous evidence for its chosen option(s).

01/12/2022: Until iteration three of the airspace change masterplan, including the updated programme plan has been assessed and accepted by the CAA and Department for Transport as co sponsors of airspace modernisation, the full indicative timeline for this ACP cannot be confirmed. The Gateways within the published document 'Indicative Timeline - December 2022' are subject to change.
