This proposal is for a Permanent change to the notified airspace design, and the change level is 1.
The Department for Transport have notified aviation s takeholders via the Upgrading UK airspace: s trategic rationale, published in
February 2017, that the controlled airspace in southern England used to support commercial air transport operations is capacity
cons trained, it has evolved over time and does not exploit modern navigation technology.
The Future Airspace Strategy Implementation South (FASI South) programme has been es tablished by NATS and a number of key
airports operating in southern England, including London Luton Airport Operations Ltd. to coordinate a series of linked ACPs that will
modernise the overall airspace structure and route network.
London Luton Airport Operations Ltd is using this opportunity to look at options of aircraft reaching higher altitudes sooner on
departure and remaining higher for longer on arrival enabling significant environmental benefits .
