Ministry of Defence Enabling BVLOS UAS Operations from Keevil Airfield

24 May 2023: The CAA has reviewed the status of the Conditions associated with the CAA Decision for this ACP. Purpose of this change

This proposal is for a Permanent change to the notified airspace design, and the change level is M1.

Approval is sought for a Permanent Airspace Change surrounding Keevil Airfield, a satellite aerodrome of RAF Brize Norton located North

West of the Salisbury Plain Danger Areas. Airspace is required to facilitate Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operation of military

Unmanned Air Systems.

Operating from Keevil will allow for essential aircrew and groundcrew training in an environment that is currently not possible from other

UK locations. The airfield will be primarily used for launch and recovery into EG D123 (2NM to the South), the principal operating

airspace already utilised for military BVLOS activity.

The CAA has completed the Decide Gateway Assessment and is satisfied that the change sponsor has met the requirements of the Airspace Change Process. The CAA approves the implementation of this airspace change proposal for the reasons and on the conditions set out in the regulatory decision document.
