Current status:IN PROGRESS

12 Dec 23 - The revised airspace change process (CAP 1616, Version 5) will be implemented on 02 January 2024. This ACP will remain a Level 1 and follow the CAP 1616, Version 4 process until it completes Stage 3. Once this ACP has completed Stage 3, it will follow the process requirements as set out in CAP 1616 Version 5.

Purpose of this change

This proposal is for a Permanent change to the notified airspace design, and the change level is 1.

This airspace change intends to modernise airspace around Aberdeen Airport in order to:

- Meet the regulatory requirements for Performance Based Navigation (PBN) implementation relevant to arrivals

- Decouple existing procedures from ground based navigational aids

- Meet the intent of the UK's Airspace Modernisation Strategy

During Stage 4, the change sponsor will select a final design option and consider updating it in light of information received during the consultation or engagement. The change sponsor will also conduct the final options appraisal, assess the need for additional consultation or engagement, and submit the final proposal to the CAA.
